Four Strong Aunts

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be the last living sibling in your family? Would it make you feel strong or sad? After losing my 58-year-old sister Jean to leukemia and my 50-year-old-brother Mick to a heart attack about nine years ago I guess I wasn’t expecting to be next. It’s a weird thing to think about.

Mark and I each have an aunt that’s still living and representing each of our parents’ families. Aunt Irene Lambert (pictured above) is Mark’s dad’s sister-in-law, Lila Coston is Mark’s mom’s sister, Aunt Barbara Kraus is my mom’s sister-in-law and Sis Reames is my dad’s sister.

As you can see, all of these women are still strong and beautiful.

  1. One of the greatest joys in our family has been the Aunts that we have known, loved, and spent time with…..Uncles, also, but often they die sooner than the Aunts.
